Rhondda Cynon Taff, Merthyr and Bridgend - Welsh Church Act Fund 14911

The Welsh Church Act Fund is available to constituted community groups and charities operating in the County Borough areas of Rhondda Cynon Taf, Merthyr and Bridgend. Organisations must provide activities that have long term direct benefit to residents and communities within these areas and must be open to members of the public at large. There are three levels of grant small (up to £2,000), medium (up to £10,000), and large (up to £50,000)

It provides support for capital expenditure such as:

  • Refurbishment of a community buildings or places of worship;
  • Purchase of capital equipment;
  • Other purposes beneficial to the wider community.

The Fund operates on a rolling programme basis. There are no set bidding rounds and fully developed applications can be submitted at any time.

Grants are offered for registered charities (all Grants) and constituted community groups (Wee Grants only) that help people and communities in Scotland who are living with poverty and trauma. For more details of the kind of work funded, and the who and what check out their website.

The programmes currently open are:

  • Wee Grants - Funding of up to £5,000 for one year only
  • Small Grants - Revenue funding of between £5,000 and £20,000 for up to five years
  • Large Grants - Revenue funding of between £20,000 and £50,000 for up to five years
  • Transport Grants - Funding of up to £20,000 to contribute to the costs of transport to support a charity's work.

The scheme is intended to provide third sector organisations in Scotland with short-term loans that are used to bridge periods when expected income doesn't arrive as originally agreed or planned.

Amount:

  • Stage 1 Technical Assistance Grants range from between £2,500 to £30,000 with an average grant of around £10,000. This funding is intended to help prepare for the purchase of an asset.
  • Stage 2 Acquisition Grants range from £5,000 to £1 million. This funding will cover capital and some revenue costs associated with the acquisition of assets.
